Schedule:
Approximately 30 hours / week (5 days per week, 6 hours / day)
Shift: Flexible but consistent (e.g., 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
Contract Length: 8 weeks (potential extension through end of school year)
Pay Rate: $36 / hour
Position OverviewThe School Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in supporting the health and well‑being of students across multiple school sites. This position involves applying the nursing process in a school setting, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronic conditions, and serving as a liaison between families, school staff, and healthcare providers. The RN ensures care is delivered in accordance with Amergis' philosophy, standards, policies, and physician orders.
Key Responsibilities- Promote health and safety within the school environment
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies
- Manage chronic health conditions and administer medications as prescribed
- Train school staff on medication administration, including epi‑pens and inhalers
- Collaborate with families, school staff, and healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation
NC Health Assessments: 19 students have life‑threatening allergies
Main requirement:
Ability to train staff on medication administration protocols
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of experience in school nursing, public health, or pediatrics (preferred)
- Current CPR certification
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Float position covering 4 schools
Weekly hours: 25-30 hours
Contract:
8 weeks, with potential extension
