We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the Duke Orthopedics - Foot & Ankle clinic located in Cary, NC as well as a possibility of other Wake County, NC locations to provide direct patient care services in collaboration with the attending physician requiring Foot & Ankle Orthopedic care as well as General Orthopedics. The APP will augment a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients.

First assist with surgeries performed at Duke Raleigh Hospital and Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center Arringdon
. If Nurse Practitioner,
RNFA certification required.

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.

• Provide care for patients needing foot & ankle orthopedic and general orthopedic care.
• Coordinate patient care including triage, physical exams, collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies, assisting with peri-operative workflow including scheduling, pre-ops, and post-op follow-up, diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, and prescribing appropriate interventions and medications.
• Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising physician, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
• Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients' condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.
• Respond to patient inquiries and concerns via telephone or EPIC MyChart messages and be accessible to consult with supervising physician as needed.
• Analyze clinical practice patterns to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Refer general orthopedic patients to other services as needed to meet the needs of the patients.

• Prefer 1+ years orthopedics work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. If new graduate, clinical rotations in an orthopedic care setting.
• If a Nurse Practitioner, prefer RNFA certification.

• Nurse Practitioners:
  Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Physician Assistants:
  Work requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required;
  Master's degree strongly preferred.

• BLS required.

• Nurse Practitioners:
  Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required.
• Physician Assistants:
  Must be licensed in the state of NC and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• DEA licensure required.
