University Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Staff Development Coordinator / Infection Preventionist
.
This clinical leadership role is ideal for an RN who is passionate about developing people, improving clinical practice, and creating a safe environment where residents and employees can thrive. You will lead staff education and competency development while overseeing the center’s Infection Prevention and Control Program.
What You'll DoStaff Development & Education
Coordinate new employee orientation and ongoing clinical education.
Develop and provide in-services based on identified staff and resident-care needs.
Validate nursing competencies, including medication pass and treatment observations.
Monitor completion of required education and maintain accurate training records.
Coordinate CPR certifications and support nursing staff professional development.
Partner with nursing leadership to identify opportunities for coaching, education, and performance improvement.
Infection Prevention
Lead the center’s Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with CMS, CDC, OSHA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Conduct infection prevention rounds, audits, surveillance, and data trending.
Identify infection‑control risks and implement education and corrective action when needed.
Coordinate transmission‑based precautions and communicate findings with the interdisciplinary team.
Oversee vaccination and tuberculosis programs for residents and employees.
Coordinate the center’s Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities related to infection prevention and clinical education.
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina required.
Previous infection prevention, staff development, clinical education, or skilled nursing experience preferred.
Infection Control Practitioner Certification (CIC) preferred but not required.
Willingness to complete specialized infection prevention training as required.
Strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to coach and educate others while maintaining accountability for clinical standards.
Comfortable working independently, analyzing data, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Working knowledge of computer systems and electronic education/documentation platforms.
This position includes a combination of administrative and hands‑on clinical responsibilities and requires regular walking, standing, bending, reaching, and other physical activity throughout the facility.
