Description of Work The Correctional Lieutenant III position is located at Granville Correctional Institution in Butner, NC, which houses approximately 904 male offenders.

Reporting to the Correctional Captain III , this position predominantly and independently provides support to the Correctional Captain.

Job Duties Included:
• Provided supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
• Complete, review and maintain employee time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms.
• Conduct investigations as needed.
• Account for persons & funds and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operational.
• Provide daily inspection of offenders living areas, medical, kitchen areas and the facility as a whole to identify possible safety hazards and to ensure the operation is running smoothly.
• Identify training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff.
• Conduct searches of staff, visitors and offenders for contraband and responding to emergency situations as needed.
• Serve as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the facility when his/her rotation is working in the absence of the Correctional Captain.

/Management Preferences Salary Range: $45,431.00 - $79,504.00
