Join Us as a Support Group Peer Event Host!

The Autism Society of North Carolina is currently hiring for a part-time Support Group Specialist – Peer Event Host, who will provide peer support to autistic volunteers in coordination with the Support Groups department. The primary objective is to support autistic adults who volunteer to host Meet-Ups throughout the state.

What You’ll Do:

Partner with autistic volunteer Meet-Up Hosts and Support Group Leaders to create welcoming, meaningful opportunities for connection.

Coordinate planning, logistics, on-site support, follow-up, and reconciliation to ensure smooth, successful events.

Build trusted relationships with hosts, leaders, volunteers, ASNC staff, and community partners across the assigned region.

Coach hosts and leaders on ASNC expectations, best practices, annual goals, and strategies that help groups thrive.

Connect group efforts with local needs, ASNC resources, and broader community supports.

Support sustainable, volunteer-led events by developing practical tools, systems, and problem-solving strategies.

Contribute to ASNC outreach, fundraising, reporting, special projects, and professional development as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

Valid driver’s license, ability to travel across North Carolina to support in-person meetings.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience preferred but not required.

Experience supporting, mentoring, or facilitating autism, I/DD, or peer support groups preferred.

Strong communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.

Flexibility to work on occasional evenings or weekends to support community events.
