Full Stack Engineer; Typescript​/NodeJS

Piper Companies is looking for a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Typescript/NodeJS) to join an AI-powered education technology team. This role focuses on building innovative learning solutions, driving technical strategies, and collaborating across disciplines, to deliver impactful features.
This is a full-time position with a hybrid work arrangement based out of Durham, NC.

Responsibilities for the Staff Full Stack Engineer (Typescript/NodeJS) include:

-Develop and prototype new functionalities for new AI technologies.

-Lead technical planning efforts by defining scope, assessing complexity, and shaping architecture for solutions.

-Stay ahead of emerging technologies by researching, testing, and benchmarking advancements in AI and related fields.

-Collaborate with engineering teams to synchronize backend and frontend development, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure smooth integration across platforms.

-Contribute across the stack to maintain and review web and server applications during major releases and team absences.

-Promote best engineering practices meeting internal standards, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of improvement.

Qualifications for the Staff Full Stack Engineer (Typescript/NodeJS) include:

-8+ years of professional experience in full stack development, with expertise in typescript and NodeJS

-Strong understanding of Typescript and functional programming principles

-Hands-on experience with integrating and experimenting with machine learning technologies

-Familiarity with additional languages, such as Python

-Experience working with large language models (LLMs) and embedding techniques

-Knowledge of Mongo

DB or other relational database systems

-Previous experience with mentoring or taking lead on a project

Compensation for the Staff Full Stack Engineer (Typescript/NodeJS) includes:

-Salary range: $175,000 - $210,000
