General Foreman

We’re supporting a well‑established civil engineering contractor in the North East who is looking to appoint an experienced General Foreman to oversee daily site operations across a range of civils and infrastructure projects. This role suits a hands‑on leader who can drive productivity, maintain high safety standards, and support the successful delivery of complex site works.

Key Responsibilities

* Daily Site Coordination:
Lead and organise site teams to ensure smooth, efficient progress.

* Supervision of Trades & Labour:
Oversee operatives and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed to specification.

* Health & Safety Leadership:
Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with CDM and company procedures.

* Quality Assurance:
Monitor workmanship, complete inspections, and maintain accurate site records.

* Programme Support:
Work closely with Site Managers and Engineers to maintain progress and address delays.

* Problem Solving:
Identify issues early and implement practical solutions to keep works on track.

What You’ll Bring

* Proven experience as a General Foreman, Working Foreman, or Ganger within civil engineering.

* Strong understanding of groundworks, drainage, utilities, structures, highways, or public realm.

* Confident communicator with the ability to lead teams effectively.

* Solid knowledge of site safety, quality standards, and construction processes.

* CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid; plant tickets advantageous.
