About the Role

This Quantity Surveyor role sits within the water and utilities sector, focusing on the commercial management of projects from start through to completion. You will play a key role in maintaining financial control, ensuring accurate valuations and supporting overall project performance.

Working closely with site teams and project stakeholders, you will manage subcontractor accounts, oversee cost reporting and ensure contractual compliance throughout the lifecycle of each scheme. The role also involves contributing to forecasting and identifying risks that may impact project margins.

This is a good opportunity for someone with water industry experience who wants to take ownership of commercial activities within a structured project environment.

The key responsibilities for this Quantity Surveyor role are:
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts
  • Procure subcontractors in line with programme and company procedures
  • Administer subcontract agreements including meetings, variations and notices
  • Assess subcontractor applications and issue payment notifications
  • Agree final accounts with subcontractors
  • Measure quantities from drawings and on site where required
  • Evaluate and manage variations accurately
  • Manage weekly labour and plant payments where required
  • Monitor and control material costs
  • Produce cost reports including valuations and reconciliations
  • Work with site teams to monitor progress and forecast costs to completion
  • Maintain accurate commercial and site records
  • Identify and report project delays alongside the project team
  • Attend design reviews and progress meetings
Experience required for this Quantity Surveyor role are:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Experience working within the water industry
  • Understanding of water treatment, storage and conveyance systems
  • Experience working with NEC target cost contracts
  • Experience on design and construct schemes
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and cost management processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project systems
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Quantity Surveyor role are:
  • Experience working on framework contracts
  • Knowledge of MEICA, ICA or SCADA systems
  • Understanding of environmental and flood prevention considerations
  • Awareness of project planning principles
