1:1 Behaviour & Support Assistant – Durham Secondary Schools

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Behaviour & Support Assistants to join friendly, supportive secondary schools in Durham. In this role, you'll provide tailored support to a pupil who requires consistency, encouragement, and personalised guidance to help them thrive.

What you'll be doing:

Delivering focused 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs throughout lessons and daily activities
Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and adapt learning strategies
Fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
Supporting the student's social, emotional, and academic development
Celebrating progress, big or small, every milestone counts
You need:

Experience supporting children with SEN in a 1:1 or small group capacity (desirable but not essential)
Calm, caring, and consistent approach with strong communication skills
Passion for inclusive education and desire to make a meaningful impact
Resilience, patience, and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the pupil
Valid DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
