Rock and Pop Music Teacher – Durham

Compensation: £27,000 – £32,000 per year

Job Description

Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s biggest employer of full‑time, permanent musicians. We teach in‑school rock and pop band lessons to primary‑age children. If you bring musical ability, passion and enthusiasm, we provide full training, support and development.

Responsibilities
  • Teach groups of primary‑age children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
  • Deliver first‑time instrument lessons – drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
  • Work independently as part of a remote team of band leaders and receive support from central teams.
  • Act as a rock and pop star role‑model, empowering children to deliver live performances at end‑of‑term concerts.
  • Help children develop self‑belief, resilience and wellbeing through performing in a band.
  • Represent Rocksteady by building strong relationships with schools, teachers and parents.
  • Prepare for highly active days, drive between schools, and load/unload and set‑up equipment in each location.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Competent on at least two of: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, vocals.
  • Enthusiastic to learn how to teach band lessons and complete our training programme before starting.
  • Resilient, confident, organized and an effective communicator with children, teachers and parents.
  • Committed to promoting safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Independent worker with good time‑management and administrative skills.
  • UK/EU driving licence and own transport, used for travelling between schools.
