The post holder will be responsible for the management of an efficient, cost effective, building maintenance and repair service to Trust properties for the purpose of health care.
In relation to buildings structures, the post holder will also be responsible for the procurement, preparation, including feasibility studies, of designated capital schemes as the need arises.
The post holder will be required to provide technical and managerial support to the Head of Estates and Estates Managers, with specific responsibility for the effective and efficient management, procurement and control of building maintenance, design and installation criteria with respect to capital/minor works schemes and Estates condition surveys.
To provide technical advice and discussion with clients, where necessary and assist in achieving correctly prepared design requirements, to suit specific or particular needs.
Flexibility to assist/cover other Estates Officers with their responsibilities when directed by the Head of Estates and Estates Managers.
Main duties of the jobResponsible for management of the Engineering Supervisor, together with overall management of the Engineering maintenance on a day-to-day operational basis
Responsible for the development and implementation of the Engineering Planned Preventative Maintenance System, including continuous performance monitoring against NHS performance indicators, and national standards
Manage and monitor the agreed Annual Life Cycle Maintenance programme as directed by the Head of Estates and Estates Managers. Evaluate design criteria and solutions and advise Trust managers of compliance with briefing requirements/information and assimilation of same into specifications, drawings and other tender documentation
Responsible for the procurement and delivery of the design and management of architectural/Engineering/maintenance services in all refurbishment, Minor New Works and maintenance schemes from initial conception through to final account
Ensure liaison and exchange of technical project related information between Hospital Managers, Specialists, non-specialists, Consultants, Contractors and suppliers to develop the project brief and design/construction compliance. Develop client's briefs and submissions using interpersonal communicative skills to formulate specific designs and specifications.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estates Officer (Engineering) to join our multi-disciplined Estates team.
The post holder will have either a Engineering background and will be responsible for the management of Engineering operational maintenance services in Trust properties. This important role within our organisation will require an individual with specific detailed knowledge in the field of Engineering and services.

Person Specification Qualifications- Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical Engineering
- Qualified to Honours Degree standard
- Professional Registration at
C.Eng
- Significant management experience of contract works and/or direct labour workforce for engineering maintenance
- Working experience in procurement of engineering design schemes
- Experience in Engineering management
- Experience working in an NHS environment and the management of Planned Preventative Maintenance systems
- Management of budgets and meeting specified targets
- Experience working with Energy/Engineering Management systems.
- A thorough working knowledge of all aspects of engineering maintenance/installation work.
- Team leader with ability to lead and co- ordinate full maintenance team and act as focal point for all contract/maintenance related issues
- Knowledge in the procurement, design and specification of engineering building services
- AutoCAD conversant, Conversant with CDM Legislation
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Approved advanced AutoCAD certification and willingness to attend various training.
- Experience of Information Communications Technology systems.
- Keyboard Skills.
