Durham Mott Mac Donald Bentley (MMB) is the design and build unit of global engineering consultancy Mott Mac Donald. We need a Senior Process Engineer to support us delivering an ambitious programme of work for one of the UK’s largest water and sewerage companies, Northumbrian Water. Our multi-disciplinary teams are responsible for the design and construction of large projects and programmes of work, and our process engineers are a key part of our teams.

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be accountable for the design of a programme of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover. You will work in project teams comprised of electrical, mechanical, civil, and process designers.

Your role will also involve identifying process risks and opportunities and helping the project team to manage these. As a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide support and guidance to other process engineers in the team, supporting them in both project work and in their professional development. This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your technical and management skills, grow your professional network, and provide you with excellent long-term potential to advance your career.

The role of a Senior Process Engineer includes:
Leading the development of process design deliverables, such as process models, mass balances, control philosophies Providing technical assurance of process designs undertaken by others and ensuring the design complies with framework standards and industry best practices. Identifying opportunities for innovation to meet whole-life cost and net-zero drivers. Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims Supporting the development of the process engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resource for the projects

What you’ll need:

Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, or related field Chartered or incorporated member of professional institution e.g ICE, IMechE, etc, or equivalent experience Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders Methodical approach to problem solving A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region What you can offer:

Chemical Engineering or relevant Process Engineering related degree, preferably chartered.

Experience and understanding of water and/or wastewater unit processes and treatment plant, with experience of delivering process design for wastewater projects.

Experience of HAZOP studies as chair or team member would be advantageous

Strong clean water non infrastructure experience.
