The Role As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of water and wastewater projects, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Team, Commercial Manager and client to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably. Your responsibilities will include:
Taking ownership of the commercial management of water and wastewater projects. Managing project budgets, costs, forecasts and cash flow. Preparing and maintaining accurate CVRs and commercial reports. Managing applications for payment and ensuring timely certification. Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities. Managing variations, compensation events and change control. Administering and interpreting NEC contracts. Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts.
Reviewing subcontractor applications, valuations and variations. Supporting the project team with contractual and commercial advice. Working closely with the client and supply chain to resolve commercial issues. Preparing, negotiating and agreeing final accounts. Ensuring contractual notices and commercial processes are managed effectively. About You We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the water or utilities sector.
You will ideally have experience working on projects involving:
Water and wastewater infrastructure Water treatment works Wastewater treatment works Clean water networks Sewer networks and pipelines Pumping stations Treatment plant and associated civils Water mains and utilities infrastructure General civil engineering associated with the water sector You will also have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the water, utilities or civil engineering sectors. Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly NEC3/NEC
4. Experience managing subcontractors and specialist supply chains. Strong understanding of change management, compensation events and contractual processes. Experience producing CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. A commercially focused and proactive approach. The ability to work closely with operational teams and clients. A degree, HNC/HND or professional qualification such as RICS would be advantageous, although relevant industry experience is equally valued.
