Full-time Ready to hit the ground running? We are looking for an experienced and proactive Purchasing Technician (Buyer) to join our Delivery team based at Croft Depot . This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with experience of purchasing systems, supplier management and contract administration to play a key role in supporting the delivery of highway maintenance and improvement programmes.

This position offers an initial contract of up to 12 months, with the possibility of applying for a permanent role for the right candidate. About the Role As a Purchasing Technician, you will provide a compliant procurement and supply chain management service, ensuring that plant, materials and services are sourced efficiently and in accordance with procurement regulations and internal procedures.

You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to support the successful delivery of revenue and capital highway programmes.

Key Responsibilities Procure goods, services, materials and plant required for Highways Delivery operations. Create and manage purchase orders using procurement systems, including Oracle e-Business Suite. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with Contract Procedure Rules, Public Contracts Regulations and procurement best practice. Maintain auditable procurement records, including quotation exercises and purchasing reports. Support procurement opportunities through electronic tendering portals, including Due North.

Liaise with suppliers to expedite deliveries and resolve procurement issues. Assist with supplier and contract management activities, including performance monitoring and review meetings. Arrange plant and material deliveries, collections, hires and off-hires. Act as a first point of contact for operational teams requiring procurement support. Produce reports, analysis and management information to support decision-making. Monitor workflow trends and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.

Deliver excellent customer service when responding to internal and external enquiries. What We're Looking For Essential Skills & Experience Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or buying role. Experience using purchasing or ERP systems. Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management. Strong administrative and organisational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines. Good communication skills with the confidence to engage with a range of stakeholders.

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Desirable Knowledge of public sector procurement processes. Experience using Oracle e-Business Suite.

Experience with Due North or similar e-procurement portals. Exposure to contract administration or contract management activities. Why Apply?
