CNC Miller

Location: Durham

Shift Pattern: Rotating Double Shift

Pay Rate: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour + 20% shift allowance (DOE)

Are you an experienced CNC Miller looking for a secure role with competitive pay, modern machinery, and a structured shift pattern? This is a great opportunity to join a well-established engineering business in Durham, producing a varied and technically interesting range of components.

You'll be working primarily on Mazak and Haas CNC milling machines in a quality-focused environment where precision and consistency matter.

Shift Pattern & Pay
  • 36.33 hours per week - rotating double shift
  • Week 1:
  • Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 2:00pm
  • Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm
  • Week 2:
  • Monday - Thursday: 2:00pm - 11:25pm
  • Pay: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Additional: 20% shift allowance paid on top of basic rate
What You'll Be Doing
  • Setting up and operating CNC milling machines
  • Working with Mazak and Haas equipment
  • Selecting tools and preparing machines for production runs
  • Carrying out roughing and finishing operations to tight tolerances
  • Inspecting finished components against engineering drawings
  • Completing basic machine and tooling maintenance
  • Keeping your work area clean, safe, and organised
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a CNC Miller
  • Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of machining techniques
  • Competent using measuring equipment for quality checks
  • High attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Comfortable working rotating shifts
Your Experience

Essential:

  • Apprentice-trained, time-served engineer
  • Hands-on CNC milling experience in a precision environment
  • Experience working to AS9100 or similar quality standards
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements

Desirable:

  • Ability to program or part-program at the machine
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives
