CNC Turner

Location: Durham

Shift Pattern: Rotating Double Shift

Pay Rate: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour + 20% shift allowance (DOE)

Are you an experienced CNC Turner looking for a well-paid role with a clear shift pattern and modern CNC lathes? This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering business in Durham, producing high-quality precision components.

You'll be working on Mazak, Haas, and Doosan CNC lathes , with a varied workload and strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Shift Pattern & Pay
  • 36.33 hours per week - rotating double shift
  • Week 1:
  • Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 2:00pm
  • Friday: 6:00am - 12:00pm
  • Week 2:
  • Monday - Thursday: 2:00pm - 11:25pm
  • Pay: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Additional: 20% shift allowance paid on top of basic rate
What You'll Be Doing
  • Setting up and operating CNC turning machines
  • Working with Mazak, Haas, and Doosan lathes
  • Selecting tooling and setting machines for production
  • Producing precision components to tight tolerances
  • Inspecting parts against engineering drawings
  • Carrying out routine machine and tooling maintenance
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a CNC Turner
  • Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Strong knowledge of turning processes and techniques
  • Experience using measuring equipment for quality inspection
  • Reliable, flexible, and quality-focused approach
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts
Your Experience

Essential:

  • Apprentice-trained, time-served engineer
  • Hands-on CNC turning experience in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Experience working to AS9100 or similar quality standards
  • Good understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements

Desirable:

  • Ability to program or part-program at the machine
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement activities
