Young Person Support Worker

Durham | £17-£20 per Hour

We're recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Young Person Support Worker to support children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) in the Durham area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work on a 1:1 basis, helping young people achieve positive outcomes, build independence, and access enriching experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

The Role

You will provide person-centred support tailored to the individual's needs, helping them to develop confidence, independence, emotional resilience and life skills.

No two days are the same, and responsibilities may include:

Supporting young people within the home and community.
Promoting independence and daily living skills.
Assisting with social activities and community engagement.
Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.
Implementing support plans and behaviour strategies.
Building positive and trusting professional relationships.
Working alongside families, schools and professionals.
Recording observations and maintaining accurate records.
Safeguarding and advocating for the young person's needs.

Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults.
A caring, patient and empathetic approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.

Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Compliance Requirements

Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants will be required to complete:

Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce)
Right to Work checks
Employment reference checks
Full employment history verification
Relevant training certificates where applicable
Safeguarding training compliance
Completion of mandatory company trainingA full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle may be advantageous for some placements.
