Overview
Under direct supervision, is responsible for posting all cash receipts and appropriate adjustments to patient accounts. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities- Post line item payments and adjustments to patient accounts within 24 hours of receipt in business office according to established office guidelines.
- Sort lock box receipts and post accordingly to patient accounts.
- Analyze credit accounts to determine if a refund should be processed. Process any necessary refunds.
- Balance receipts, reconcile daily work batches, and prepare audit trail.
- Prepare deposits for bank.
- Maintain all checks and EOBs together by deposit date to ensure batch integrity.
- Identify on primary payment (EOB) when a secondary payor is present and refer accordingly.
- Scan explanation of benefits for incorrect and/or inconsistencies in reimbursement.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient account status and the financial affairs of clinic/corporation.
- Identify consistent fee schedule allowable differences and communicate up‑line for updating.
- Communicate payor trends to supervisor.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Zero to three years experience in a medical business office setting with insurance processing and balancing responsibilities.

Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
