SUMMARY

Under supervision of the On Duty Practitioner and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state regulations, and accreditation standards.

Reports to the Practice Manager

TYPICAL DUTIES

Interviews patients about current problems, medications, and allergies, and reviews medical records for pertinent previous and current information.

Participates in patient treatment regimens, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse).

Establishes and documents patient treatment plans under supervision of RN or MD and implements treatment.

Assists in phlebotomy: identifies patients, checks requisition forms for requested tests, and prepares equipment, patient, and puncture site.

Maintains adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepares exam rooms at the beginning and end of the day and between patient contacts.

Performs various office responsibilities: answers phones, takes messages, and performs triage within the scope of licensed practical nursing practice accurately and promptly.

Facilitates and assists in the coordination of patient referrals.

Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel.

Ensures accurate information is entered into the EMR system upon patient check-in.

Ensures patients receive all necessary check-out information and relevant materials requested by the physician at the conclusion of their appointment.

Performs all other tasks deemed necessary by management.
