Primary Job Function
The Quality Technician will provide support through precise laboratory testing, hands‑on verification of Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, communication and collaboration with other departments to produce Safe, Quality products. The Quality Technician must have natural keen attention to detail, ability to prioritise tasks, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Performs and documents analysis of raw materials, intermediate and finished products. Interprets results based on trends, specification limits and comparison data.
- Performs troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Communicates internally and externally (verbal and written) with clarity and professionalism. Presents information clearly and concisely.
- Maintains high attention to accuracy and detail.
- Maintains the laboratory in a clean and orderly manner daily.
- Acts as a role model for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
- Provides expertise to business units in troubleshooting Food Safety and Quality related problems.
- Performs audits on equipment, material, processing and storage areas, products and procedures.
- Manages inventory of chemicals and lab testing supplies.
- Communicates detailed summary of incidents and actions taken to affected departments, i.e., production, distribution, scheduling, etc.
- Supports and participates in safety activities.
- Cross‑trains to support other duties as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to all company policies, programs, rules, regulations and safety rules.
- Reports food safety and quality concerns to Supervision, Quality or Senior Management.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and ERP system).
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Quality experience in a food manufacturing facility and/or laboratory preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or one‑year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Background and/or studies in Science and/or Laboratory environment a plus.
