Overview

The Quality Technician will provide support through precise laboratory testing, hands-on verification of Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other departments to produce Safe, Quality products. The Quality Technician must have a natural keen attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks, and effective verbal and written communication with all staff.

Responsibilities
  • Performs and documents analysis of raw materials, intermediate and finished products. Interprets results based on trends, specification limits and comparison data.
  • Performs troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory instruments.
  • Communicates internally and externally (verbal and written) with clarity and professionalism. Presents information clearly and concisely.
  • Maintains the laboratory in a clean and orderly manner daily.
  • Acts as a role model for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Provides expertise to business units in troubleshooting Food Safety and Quality related problems.
  • Performs audits on equipment, materials, processing and storage areas, products and procedures.
  • Manages inventory of chemicals and lab testing supplies.
  • Communicates detailed summaries of incidents and actions taken to affected departments (e.g., production, distribution, scheduling).
  • Supports and participates in safety activities.
  • Cross-trains to support other duties as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules.
  • Reports food safety and quality concerns to supervision, quality or senior management.
Qualifications
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and ERP system).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Quality experience in a food manufacturing facility and/or laboratory preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background and/or studies in Science and/or Lab environment a plus.
