Cook (On Call)

Location: West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital — 400 East Tickle Street, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024. Online applications accepted only.

Schedule: On call; days may vary: 5:00 am‑1:00 pm or 9:30 am‑6:00 pm. Details provided during interview.

Requirements: Prior food service experience required.

Pay Range: $15.00–$17.00 per hour.

Prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

• Prepare high‑quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
• Serve meals or prepare for delivery while ensuring correct portioning, temperature and presentation. Taste all prepared food items.
• Use established ticket collection procedures during service. Maintain records for the area worked during service periods.
• Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food handling procedures.
• Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat; store food and supply items per standards.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
• Assist in ordering and receiving all food and supplies as required.
• Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Attend in‑service and safety meetings.
• Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
• Perform work safely while maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Ensure proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
• Personal commitment to own safety and that of others.
• Abide by all company policies and procedures, including:
  • Use medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer.
  • Use oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steam tables.
  • Use slip‑resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.
