We support research and technology development for projects funded externally and internally helping advance the state-of-the-art for Defense and prepare our customers and Lockheed Martin to be ahead of ready.
What you'll do:
Are you a skilled computational modeler with the flexibility to incorporate and apply cutting edge research into a variety of problems? As an member of our SSL team, you have the opportunity to design and apply new computational modeling techniques to address emerging challenges in the aerospace and defense domain. We pride ourselves in the flexibility we give to our scientists and engineers to pursue research that is of interest to them and give opportunities to grow and learn about what others in the lab are doing.
Based on our current needs, your skills and the skills you wish to acquire, you could be tasked with any of the following:
• Develop, implement, and/or apply novel computational modeling techniques for emerging challenge areas.
• Lead and/or support research projects to innovate and provide novel state of the art solutions.
• Assist in the acquisition of new business through proposing modern-day solutions to our customer's problems.
Job Description:
• Support research and technology development projects funded by DARPA, DOD service labs such as AFRL, and internal R&D
• Lead small teams to develop advanced computational modeling techniques.
• Attend and present at various industry conferences and customer venues
• Enable acquisition of new business by developing modern day solutions to customer problems. #lmatl
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD , MS, or BS from an accredited university in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with appropriate experience or course work.
- Relevant experience in computational modeling of physical phenomena, with recent knowledge of state-of-the-art in this area.
- Relevant experience in applying advanced mathematics to develop novel methods of computational modeling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired
Skills:
- Prior experience in writing technical proposals, preferably for DoD customer sets.
- Prior experience in experimentally validating computational or mathematical models.
- General understanding of related engineering domains, such as aerospace, mechanical, electrical, and/or RF.
- Experience communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship across small teams
- Experience in collaboration with university partners and familiarity with academic research.
Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
