Payroll Manager
We are seeking a strategic and forward‑thinking Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for our dynamic construction company. This role goes beyond transactional processing—it's about shaping the future of payroll through innovation, compliance, and integration with broader business initiatives including M&A activity. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payroll systems (preferably Oracle), construction industry experience, and a visionary mindset to drive continuous improvement and scalability.
This position oversees a team of 10
, including two direct reports
, and plays a key role in mentoring and developing talent while aligning payroll operations with the company’s long‑term goals.
- Lead and oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing for multi‑state operations using Oracle.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, union agreements, and prevailing wage requirements.
- Partner with Finance, HR, and Legal teams during mergers and acquisitions to assess payroll implications, conduct due diligence, and support integration efforts.
- Develop and implement strategic payroll initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert on payroll‑related compliance, audits, and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT and Oracle support teams to optimize system functionality and reporting capabilities.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively adjust payroll practices.
- Lead, coach, and develop a payroll team of 10, including two direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership roles.
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle payroll systems.
- Experience in the construction industry, including union payroll and certified payroll reporting.
- Exposure to M&A activities, including payroll due diligence and integration.
- Deep understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and labor laws.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
