Overview

Boiler Operator – Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled Boiler Operator to operate and maintain high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment. This role involves performing chemical testing, monitoring utility systems, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, and performing welding and preventative maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform boiler chemical testing, record results in logbooks, and make necessary chemistry adjustments.
  • Perform wastewater pretreatment system testing, record results in logbooks, and adjust chemistry as needed.
  • Record and analyze meter readings for utilities, taking corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and equipment using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Perform welding activities including MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated control systems.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other equipment components per work procedures or technical manuals.
  • Inspect motors, belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions while following maintenance records.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minnesota 2nd Class B Boiler License.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Lockout/Tagout experience.
  • Prior welding experience, including MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing (preferred).
  • Prior experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (preferred).
  • HVAC experience (preferred).
