EIT or Engineer I – Eagle Mountain City, UT
Professional opportunity for Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or Engineer I in city infrastructure development, design, and construction.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct engineering review and approval of commercial and residential project plans and construction drawings during the building permit review process; ensure compliance with codes and standards.
- Screen plans for traffic and parking issues, drainage problems, and right‑of‑way challenges.
- Coordinate operations and activities related to traffic and signalization project design, infrastructure analysis, and public works systems.
- Prepare engineering reviews and reports for proposed projects and developments, and complete preliminary design of utility systems to aid in establishing city master plans.
- Serve as liaison with federal, state, county, and local jurisdictions; represent the city on commissions and task forces.
- Assist with project management and scheduling, ensuring adherence to standards, work plans, and contractual specifications; monitor consultant activities and prepare change orders.
- Conduct traffic studies to support public safety enforcement and project design projections.
- Develop rough drafts, maps, designs, and prints of projects; prepare legal descriptions of properties, submit to the county for recording, and assist in drafting road, water, sewer, and stormwater projects for bidding.
- Use AutoCAD to draft parcels, property boundaries, and other maps; maintain GIS data and update city models.
- Prepare reports, letters, and analyses using word processing, database, and spreadsheet software; use GIS and simulation programs for infrastructure analysis.
- Graduation with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Zero to four years of relevant internship or work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certificate required;
Utah Professional Engineering (PE) license acceptable or obtainable within 6 months. - Working knowledge of CAD, GIS, and related engineering software; proficiency in office programs.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and codes.
Typical office setting with occasional field activities, walking, standing, stooping, reaching, lifting, and periodic travel.
Salary$28.00 – $31.00 per hour
