Description
ASI is expanding its teams to support its current ramp-up across development work, customer projects, and product deployments. This is a full-time W-2 contract position. The selected candidate will interview with ASI and work as an integrated member of the ASI team. W-2 employment, payroll, and benefits will be administered through one of ASI's staffing partners.
This role can be based in Mendon, Lehi, or Logan, Utah, in Dallas-Fort Worth, or remote, with 0-10% travel.
JOB SUMMARYAs the PLM/PDM Administrator at ASI, you own the business processes that run inside our PLM system and the CAD-to-PLM-to-production data path, turning a manual, person-dependent handoff into a repeatable, documented system process. You configure the workflows functional and technical leaders need, establish revision and release control for CAD files, drawings, and documentation, and keep it aligned with ASI's quality and configuration management procedures.
Your first priority is controlled CAD and drawing release from Onshape and Altium into Arena, and ECO workflow support across the PLM integration layers for engineering, sourcing, and production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPartner with functional and technical leaders across mechanical, electrical, software, documentation, quality, and manufacturing to translate their process needs into system configuration: workflows, approval routing, lifecycle phases, and item categories and attributes.
Develop new process areas where none exist today, and evolve existing ones as business needs change.
Administer users, roles, and permissions, including access to controlled and export-restricted data.
Own the CAD-to-PLM handoff for mechanical and electrical design data: BOM extraction, mapping to PLM items and assemblies, and keeping released CAD data, drawings, and BOMs in sync.
Establish and maintain revision and release control for CAD files, drawings, and documentation, including work-in-progress versus released states and obsolete handling.
Maintain drawing and document control practices: numbering conventions, title block and metadata accuracy, controlled PDF release, and redlines.
Configure and maintain ECR, ECO, and deviation processes, including impact and where-used analysis and effectivity.
Own the flow of item, BOM, and change data between PLM and adjacent systems such as ERP and CAD, so manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers consume correct released data.
Perform data migration, bulk imports, and cleanup, and build reporting for change cycle time, release aging, and data completeness.
Keep PLM processes aligned with ASI's quality, configuration management, and design control procedures, and support internal and external audits with records from the system.
Train the functions that use the system, and maintain administrator-level documentation of the configuration so setup is not dependent on one person.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOBSKILLS Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on PLM administration experience.
3+ years administering and configuring Arena PLM: workflows, approval routing, lifecycle phases, item and BOM structures, and permissions. Comparable enterprise PLM experience considered;
Arena depth strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ownership of the CAD-to-PLM data path, including BOM extraction, file release, and revision control.
Working knowledge of engineering change management: ECR and ECO processes and item lifecycle states.
Experience in a production environment where released PLM data drives purchasing, build, and supplier activity.
Working knowledge of design control requirements at the ISO 9001 level or equivalent, such as AS9100, ISO 13485, or IATF 16949.
Strong cross-functional communication, including the ability to drive process adoption with reluctant users.
Preferred:Onshape: released CAD data, BOM structures, and release workflows, particularly the Onshape-Arena connector.
Altium: ECAD library and variant management, BOM and documentation package output, and PCB data control in PLM.
SAP or similar ERP integration for item master, BOM, and change data exchange.
Prior engineering, quality, manufacturing, or program experience, not solely system administration.
Experience standing up a new PLM process area where none existed before; exposure to internal audits, CAPA, or EIA-649.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation constantly…
