Position Summary:
The site Safety Manager assists the Division Safety Manager and leadership in enforcing and regulating all safety procedures to ensure that Southland Industries meets all safety requirements in the field and all facilities by managing and coordinating all division safety activities. This role is required to be on the project site in Eagle Mountain, UT.
- This position is based full-time on-site in Eagle Mountain, UT. While your immediate focus will be the Eagle Mountain, UT project, future opportunities may involve travel to support other high-impact projects across the division or company.
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day safety activities on-site.
- Champion a proactive safety culture that prioritizes prevention, awareness, and accountability.
- Ensure that all field operations and facilities meet regulatory and company-specific safety requirements.
- Support the implementation of division-wide safety initiatives and best practices.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections and recommend correction of hazardous situations for compliance with regulatory, company and owner requirements for a region or area within the division.
- Develop reports and presentations for safety briefings with company management.
- Provide strategic and proactive direction on initiatives that will improve company Environmental, Health and Safety performance through minimizing risks and liabilities.
- Implement all aspects of corporate safety manual and ensure that all field employees and subcontractors are complying. Ensure consistency, quality and compliance at all locations.
- Oversee and direct programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
- Provide guidance for departmental processes and activities including compliance with safety regulations and the investigation of accidents; provide leadership and recommendations regarding the design, implementation and administration of all safety-relative initiatives, policies, procedures and processes.
- Provide performance coaching and feedback for direct reports as needed. Participate in annual performance process. Involved in hiring process.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline required.
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid required.
- OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training required.
- OSHA 500 and CHST certifications required.
- CSP required.
- Excellent working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer-service and organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet.
- Travels more than 50% of time.
