Position Overview
Apply for the MEAT/ASST DEPT LEADER role at Smith's Food & Drug Centers in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals for the department and control quality assurance standards. Monitor all functions, duties, and activities related to the Meat department, demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum Requirements- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Current food handler’s permit (required once employed)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Meat or retail experience
- Management experience
- Second language proficiency
- Strong communicator of company, department, and job-specific information to associates
- Ability to set department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed them through teamwork
- Capability to develop adequate scheduling and manage customer volume
- Experience in training and developing associates and participating in performance appraisals
- Strong customer service skills, including product knowledge and promotion communication
- Knowledge of quality and freshness inspection, product promotion, and business planning
- Experience creating and executing sales promotions with store management
- Support in budgeting, expense control, profit and loss reviews, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in inventory management, inventory checks, and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)
- Ensures proper temperatures and temperature logs are maintained
- Reinforces safety programs, identifies unsafe conditions, and maintains preventive maintenance records
- Reports safety risks, illegal activity, and other concerns
- Adheres to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Can perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
