Maintenance employee will be responsible for performing ongoing landscaping tasks, as well as routine maintenance of all landscaping equipment. Shall perform landscaping tasks at various areas such as: grounds surrounding the residential properties, office buildings, and maintenance shops under the control of Maintenance Department on our property areas that require regular maintenance.

• Mow lawn either by hand or using power equipment, commercial riding mowers and weed eaters.
• Trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
• Sweep and blow walkway of debris.
• Cut down and remove limbs, branches, and trees, as needed.
• Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
• Operate a variety of hand tools and power equipment.
• Clean, maintain and service equipment and tools.
• Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
• Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer. (Only at buildings)
• Load and unload dirt, gravel, and other debris.
• Pick up trash in the open areas and dispose of it properly.
• Organize and obtain supplies and equipment as requested.
• Safely operate a motor vehicle for the purpose of driving to work locations and performing the essential functions of the position.
• Safeguard equipment and materials at all times.
• Must adhere to Personnel Policies and Alcohol Policies.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be use at all times to minimize exposure to hazards in order to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
• Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.

• Knowledge of use and purposes of general lawn tools/equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance/grounds keeping duties.
• Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
• Ability to perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities; perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English or other languages is a plus
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
• Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
• Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
• Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without ‘giving out’ or fatiguing.
• Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
• Ability to quick and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
• Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.

Minimum Qualifications: One to three years of experience in maintaining office facilities and residential areas. Such requirements require experience in operating riding mowers, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and using landscaping tools.
