Live and Work in beautiful Eagle River, WI! Trees For Tomorrow (TFT) is an accredited residential environmental education center in Eagle River WI that has been promoting conservation education since 1944. Today, TFT works with thousands of teachers, students, and other members of the public to promote sustainable natural resource management through transformative educational experiences. This is your chance to share your love for the outdoors with others, all while living and working in one of the most beautiful places in the Midwest!
This part-time position is expected to average 20-28 hours per week.
Environmental Science Educator Responsibilities- Teach environmental science to preK-12 groups about the woods, wildlife, and waters of Wisconsin’s Northwoods
- Present courses and special programs in a knowledgeable, stimulating, engaging, and objective manner
- Guide participants of all ages and backgrounds in safe outdoor inquiry-based learning and activities.
- Work with education team to write and edit curriculum and assess student learning
- Operate all equipment related to course and program presentation.
- Interact with live program animals, and animal artifacts such as skulls, pelts, and other taxidermy.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in field of natural resources, biology, education or related field preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Experience in the field(s) of outdoor/environmental education, general education, or natural sciences
- Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred but not required
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as schedule demands
- Current valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage a group of students and chaperones (30+ at a time).
- Willingness to learn and teach outdoor skills such hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, fire building, etc.
- Must be comfortable working with participants of all ages including youth and adult learners
- Maintains a high level of professionalism, contributes positively to team dynamics, and approaches work with a positive attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Must be comfortable working with and leading programs involving live animals and taxidermy.
- Ability to walk 5 miles per day with a 10lb pack over rough terrain, and lift 25 lbs. overhead
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van with a canoe trailer
- All meals provided when working with a group
