Position OverviewThe Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive bid packages that support new business development efforts. This role prepares and assists with proposals for design-build, GMP, conceptual, and competitive hard-bid projects.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and professional estimates and proposals using ethical standards and the most current internal and industry cost data.
- Stay current on estimating trends, tools, and best practices.
- Review and interpret construction documents including plans, specifications, engineering reports, and contracts to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and sales presentations.
- Represent the company with a professional attitude, appearance, and commitment to quality.
- Minimize project risk by producing complete, thorough, and competitive estimates.
- Develop detailed scope sheets for each project division to ensure complete coverage.
- Verify the accuracy of data used in estimates and bids.
- Perform material quantity take-offs and solicit subcontractor bids via phone or electronic platforms.
- Create and maintain bid recap sheets.
- Support estimating and other departments with administrative and coordination tasks, including tracking bid documents and maintaining databases and files.
- Manage multiple priorities while collaborating with team members to achieve company goals.
- Participate in post-bid evaluations and post-project reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Management reserves the right to assign or reassign responsibilities as needed.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word) and estimating/bid solicitation software.
- Self-motivated, hands‑on individual who thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and simplifying complex tasks.
- Receptive to direction and constructive feedback with a positive attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Minimum of 2 years of construction industry experience (office or field), with preference for at least 1 year of estimating experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to take on any task, regardless of scope.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong work ethic and sense of ownership over assigned responsibilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong active listening skills.
- Excellent verbal and written presentation abilities.
