Position Overview

The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive bid packages that support new business development efforts. This role prepares and assists with proposals for design-build, GMP, conceptual, and competitive hard-bid projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and professional estimates and proposals using ethical standards and the most current internal and industry cost data.
  • Stay current on estimating trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Review and interpret construction documents including plans, specifications, engineering reports, and contracts to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and sales presentations.
  • Represent the company with a professional attitude, appearance, and commitment to quality.
  • Minimize project risk by producing complete, thorough, and competitive estimates.
  • Develop detailed scope sheets for each project division to ensure complete coverage.
  • Verify the accuracy of data used in estimates and bids.
  • Perform material quantity take-offs and solicit subcontractor bids via phone or electronic platforms.
  • Create and maintain bid recap sheets.
  • Support estimating and other departments with administrative and coordination tasks, including tracking bid documents and maintaining databases and files.
  • Manage multiple priorities while collaborating with team members to achieve company goals.
  • Participate in post-bid evaluations and post-project reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management reserves the right to assign or reassign responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word) and estimating/bid solicitation software.
  • Self-motivated, hands‑on individual who thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and simplifying complex tasks.
  • Receptive to direction and constructive feedback with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to service, quality, and professionalism.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Minimum of 2 years of construction industry experience (office or field), with preference for at least 1 year of estimating experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
