Overview of project/roleReporting to the Works Manager, the role is accountable for managing and controlling the delivery of electrical maintenance, installation and minor works undertaken by direct labour and subcontract resources. The postholder ensures that electrical assets are designed, installed, commissioned, maintained and delivered into service in a safe, compliant and timely manner, meeting all relevant standards and operational requirements. The role supports wider business activities as directed, contributing to overall operational performance.
The job holder is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of safety, ensuring compliance with LUL Safety Policy and associated management systems, and actively monitoring safety performance within their area of control. The postholder must demonstrate a thorough understanding of, and compliance with, all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, including the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated legislation.
The postholder is also expected to deputise the Works Manager when absent, acting as the senior operational lead within their area
Key Accountabilities- Direct and control a direct labour workforce and subcontractors delivering electrical maintenance, installation, minor works and asset enhancements, ensuring safe, compliant and timely delivery
- Accountable for the end-to-end delivery of work activities, including planning, resource allocation, execution, commissioning and handover into operational service
- Exercise day-to-day operational and technical decision-making authority, including prioritisation of work, deployment of resources and resolution of complex faults within defined safety, technical and commercial boundaries.
- Manage allocated budgets and resources, ensuring cost control, efficient delivery and adherence to financial targets
- Provide technical assurance and subject matter expertise, ensuring all works comply with relevant standards, specifications and statutory requirements
- Lead the delivery of installation, modifications and upgrades to electrical systems, maintaining asset integrity and operational reliability
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and regulatory requirements, including leading risk assessments, audits and implementation of safe systems of work
- Manage workforce performance including competence development, appraisals, discipline, absence, engagement and industrial relations, including engagement with Trade Unions where required, promoting a high-performance and safety-focused culture.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including operations, control centres and contractors, to ensure effective coordination and delivery of works
- Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring works are delivered to agreed standards, specifications and contractual requirements
- Monitor and drive business performance, responding to emerging issues and implementing improvements to optimise safety, quality, cost and delivery outcomes
- Investigate incidents and faults, implementing corrective actions and ensuring lessons learned are embedded to prevent recurrence
- Ability to plan, prioritise and allocate resources to deliver works safely, efficiently and within time/cost constraints (essential)_

- Strong understanding of BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations and electrical safety legislation (e.g. Electricity at Work Regulations) (essential)
