We are looking to appoint a committed professional, with successful middle leadership experience, to the role of Deputy Headteacher:

. Twyford CE High School was set up by the London Diocesan Board for Schools in 1981. The school has an excellent reputation, achieves highly in terms of attainment and progress and is heavily oversubscribed. It was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and SIAMS (April 2024). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and has a highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas.

Since its inception, the school has grown considerably and now admits around 975 students aged 11 to 16 and an additional 600 students to the Sixth Form. Twyford CE High School was the founding school of the Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT), which now operates four secondary schools in the London borough of Ealing.

The Deputy Headteacher will ensure all students are supported by effective pastoral systems to make outstanding academic progress and progression within the wider context of their full social, moral, spiritual and cultural development. This new role presents a unique professional development opportunity for a candidate who already has proven experience in supporting pupil progress and progression at whole school level as an Assistant Headteacher or equivalent.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the drive to lead a pastoral team committed to achieving outstanding results for all students irrespective of ability, and will be enthused by the prospect of maintaining a student learning culture which is engaging and aspirational. The Deputy Headteacher must offer outstanding leadership and management to the pastoral team and have effective communication with students, parents, colleagues and outside agencies.

The candidate will set high standards for students in all aspects of school life, and support colleagues to maintain these. This role presents a unique professional development opportunity for a candidate who already has some experience in supporting pupil progress and progression – the candidate will develop as a Deputy Headteacher within a visionary and enterprising context, and with the support of an experienced Executive team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and QTS
  • Proven record of outstanding results
  • Outstanding skills as a classroom teacher and as a tutor
  • Five years’ experience of specialist teaching at key Stages 3 and 4
  • Leadership of SMSC/school values
  • An excellent record of developmental work in current role
  • Experience of managing or implementing pastoral systems and initiatives
  • Experience of managing others / managing change
  • Experience of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the age and ability range to progress as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement.
  • Experience of the processes and techniques required to assess record and report students’ learning effectively.
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school
