Looking to make a real difference for pupils developing their English?

Every school has pupils who have the potential to thrive but may need a little extra support to fully access the curriculum. As an EAL Learning Support Assistant
, you'll play an important role in helping students build their confidence, develop their English language skills and feel fully included in school life.

We're working with welcoming and inclusive Secondary Schools across Ealing who are looking for enthusiastic EAL Learning Support Assistants to join their teams. Whether you have experience supporting EAL pupils or you're looking to take your first step into education, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference.

You'll work alongside teachers and support staff, helping pupils overcome language barriers, engage with their learning and develop the confidence to communicate and participate independently.

What you’ll be doing :
  • Supporting pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in lessons, either one-to-one or in small groups
  • Helping students develop their confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing English
  • Supporting pupils to understand instructions, classroom tasks and subject-specific vocabulary
  • Helping EAL students access the wider curriculum and participate fully in lessons
  • Encouraging pupils to become more confident and independent learners
  • Working closely with teachers to adapt and reinforce learning where appropriate
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and helping them settle into school life
  • Supporting students' social development and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
What we're looking for:
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed
  • Patient, approachable and able to build strong relationships with pupils
  • A confident communicator who can explain ideas clearly and simply
  • An understanding of the challenges pupils can face when developing their English is desirable
  • Experience working with EAL pupils, young people, schools, tutoring, youth work, coaching or similar settings is desirable but not essential
  • Adaptable, proactive and happy to support wherever needed
  • Additional language skills are highly desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
