Established in 1997 as the first manufacturer of sushi for the UK supermarket industry, Taiko has evolved into the most innovative manufacturer of Sushi, Food To Go, Prepared Meals and Snacking products in the UK, supplying Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury’s to name a few. Over the past 25 years Taiko has launched more first to market Sushi and Food to Go products than any other sushi manufacturer in the UK.
As a Technical Manager you will be responsible for supporting the technical/quality teams as well as production and operations teams in complying with BRCGS, legal and customer technical standards and expectations, through coaching and auditing, embedding a ‘right first-time’ approach.
Ensure the QMS is maintained and kept up to date.
Ensure the BRC accreditation is maintained to at least a Grade AA
* standard.
Ensure the food safety culture, legality and quality of finished goods and continually challenge and improve the system.
Oversee and maintain the HACCP function to ensure products are manufactured safely and to customer specifications.
Manage all day-to-day quality issues.
Ensure clarity of site hygiene standards, ensure they are met, and carry out hygiene audits.
Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances.
Ensure the business is proactive in implementing best practice, advising on any legislative changes across the product ranges.
To play an active role in the implementation of HACCP. Working as a team to ensure critical control points are established and taking into consideration recommendations for other control points key to the maintenance of internal standards.
To actively investigate issues within the factory environment which are in breach of Company standards of Hygiene and Technical codes of practice. Make corrective action recommendations to the relevant departments.
To ensure all the relevant analysis / checks are carried out during production to ensure the stability of the product and its claims.
To assist the Head of Technical during customer and governing body audits as required.
5+ years of experience working with quality systems.
5+ years food manufacturing experience, preferably in a technical role
Level 3 HACCP
Level 3 Food Safety
Auditor Qualification
Recognised allergen qualification
A basic understanding of customer codes of practice (eg: allergen, labelling and coding, and foreign body detection
Training in root cause analysis methods and tools
Train the trainer
Proficient in Microsoft packages, especially Excel
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
