The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Responsibilities- Provide medication administration to residents under the direction of an RN.
- Assist with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, baths, showers, mobility, meals, hydration, and positioning.
- Support daily living activities by serving meals, feeding when necessary, and aiding with ambulation and transfers.
- Provide adjunct care such as enemas, non‑sterile dressings, surgical prep, ice/heat therapy, therapeutic baths, and apply restraints when required.
- Maintain patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; and recording intake and output information.
- Provide patient comfort by transporting residents, responding to call lights, and communicating observations to the nursing supervisor.
- Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records; maintain accurate documentation.
- Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures.
- Serve and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and JCAHO standards.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
- Enhance nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for new requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Proper licensing in the state of the job.
- Experience administering oral, topical, optic, ophthalmic medications and subcutaneous injections.
- Previous CMA experience, and must also be a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Multi-tasker, able to proceed in a courteous and professional manner.
