The Triage Secretary assists physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses so they may quickly and effectively provide health care to their patients. The Triage Secretary is responsible for scheduling patients, coordinating patient care with other healthcare facilities, and collaborating with home infusion services. Will train in East Brunswick location for approximately 90 days.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Ensure all phone calls are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner by answering incoming calls to Triage; reviewing calls left in voicemail box regularly; and assisting other Triage staff by returning all phone calls as requested.
- Call/contact patients as requested by MDs to provide lab and test results.
- Process all paperwork and faxes received from Triage and Operators in a timely manner.
- Enroll patients and document in treatment plan.
- Enroll patients in pharmaceutical programs.
- Assist with authorizations from prescription phone line, completing prior authorizations for narcotics.
- Scan approved authorizations into chart, following up with pharmacy and patient to advise.
- Initiate hospice, VNA and physical therapy papers.
- Prepare prescriptions for Durable Medical Equipment.
- Process lab work and mastectomy prescriptions.
- Work with MDs to ensure patients receive appropriate clearance for surgery
- Coordinate patient care with other healthcare facilities, communicating with MD and other facilities to ensure required medical paperwork signoff and completed.
- Respects and maintains the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information by adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Comply with all State, Federal and Local Regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Clerical experience preferred, but not essential.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment, i.e. computer, fax, copier and telephone skills required.
- Currently a hybrid work model with travel to our East Brunswick location.
