Bilingual Volunteer Child Advocates are needed at CASA of Middlesex County

Each year, hundreds of Middlesex County children spend time in foster care. Often confused, frightened and caught in multiple government systems, these children need a dedicated, caring adult looking out solely for their best interests. By donating an average of just a few hours a week, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) make a real and lasting difference in the lives of these vulnerable children.

CASA of Middlesex County is seeking bilingual, Spanish-speaking volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in foster care. Applicants do not need to be native speakers but must be able to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English. We provide training and support to our volunteers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with courts, schools, healthcare providers and social services to ensure each child receives necessary help while in foster care.
  • Conduct interviews and maintain records of the child, teachers, doctors, family members and caregivers.
  • Make recommendations to the family court to help judges make the best decisions regarding the child’s living arrangements, services, education and other critical aspects of their lives.
  • Advocate for the child’s best interests throughout the duration of the case, typically a minimum of 18 months.
Qualifications
  • At least 21 years old and able to undergo a background check.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and English.
  • Passionate about justice and child welfare, with strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Committed to volunteering for the duration of the case (minimum 18 months, ideally the whole case).
  • Background in education, social work, law, or related fields is a plus (not required).
What We Offer

We provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and a strong network of volunteers dedicated to changing lives.
