POSITION:

School Counselor(s) (Secondary)

REPORTS TO:

Principal

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide students the support necessary to transition to high school. To empower all students, in the skills and development they need to be on target to graduate and be better prepared for post-graduate college/career prep.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters of Arts degree
Degree of Counseling Endorsement.
Familiar with the ASCA national model
Self-Starter
Experience with or current, working knowledge of tiered support systems
Experience with SEL programming and counseling-aligned SEL supports
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience preferred in Skyward, Canvas and Google Suite

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To work directly with all students to address absenteeism and tardiness

Collaborate with all staff to achieve goals

Collaborate with outside agencies to achieve goals

Collaborate with elementary, middle, and secondary staff on transition strategies and goal alignment

Create and deliver counseling-related presentations to students, staff, parents, and/or community stakeholders

Fully participate as a core member of your building’s Student Support Team

Establish programs to increase graduation rates

Work well with students or groups to provide additional support with study skills and motivational support

Help to develop a career exploration class

Respond to crisis situations when appropriate

Attend and assist in evening parent meetings and other parent information meetings

Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties
