Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Note:

Operational requirements for the East Chicago Sanitary District, Wastewater Division, necessitate that persons performing the job of Maintenance Worker Mechanical must be available for 24-hour on-call duty.

1. Basic Maintenance (10%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Performs basic maintenance on bar screens, pumps, blowers, gear boxes, conveyors, compressors, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, sand filters, and sludge presses.

(2) Cleans the above equipment,

(3) Change filters in the above equipment

(4) Checks and maintains fluid levels in the above equipment,

(5) Performs all basic maintenance tasks in a safe manner,

(6) Works well with teammates in performing basic maintenance tasks.

2. Maintenance (10%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Performs general maintenance on pumps, blowers, gear boxes, conveyors, compressors, bar screens, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, sand filters, and sludge presses.

(2) Performs all maintenance tasks in a safe manner,

(3) Works well with teammates in performing maintenance tasks.

3. Repairs (20%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Performs repair work on pumps, blowers, gear boxes, conveyors, compressors, bar screens, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, sand filters, and sludge presses.

(2) Performs all repair tasks in a safe manner,

(3) Works well with teammates in performing repair tasks.

4. Troubleshooting (30%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Performs troubleshooting work on pumps, blowers, gear boxes, conveyors, compressors, bar screens, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, sand filters, and sludge presses

(2) Performs all troubleshooting tasks in a safe manner,

(3) Works well with teammates in performing troubleshooting tasks.

5. Installation (20%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Installs the following equipment: pumps, blowers, gear boxes, conveyors, compressors, bar screens, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, sand filters, and sludge presses.

(2) Performs all installation tasks in a safe manner,

(3) Works well with teammates in performing installation tasks.

6. Housekeeping (5%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Maintains clean, well-organized conditions in all job sites, storage areas, shop areas, and vehicles.

(2) Requests and coordinates assistance for large-scale cleaning tasks,

(3) Performs all housekeeping tasks in a safe manner,

(4) Works well with teammates in performing housekeeping tasks.

7. Pick-up Truck Operation and Maintenance (5%) This dimension includes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

(1) Checks all truck fluid levels and adds more when needed,

(2) Notifies the supervisor of problems requiring assistance from vehicle mechanics,

(3) Drives a pick-up truck to and from job sites,

(4) Washes and cleans truck interior,

(5) Performs all pick-up truck operation and maintenance tasks safely,

(6) Works well with teammates in performing pick-up truck operation and maintenance tasks.

8. Other duties as assigned.
