EAST CLEVELAND – Elementary Teacher at Gaston Christian School, East Cleveland Campus.

• Teach assigned classes.
• Be informed and aware of the academic, spiritual and social development of each student.
• Employ instructional aids, methods, and materials that support creative teaching.
• Ensure adequate preparation to accomplish the objectives for each class.
• Plan through semester objectives and daily lesson plans.
• Maintain records of attendance and grades in alignment with administration requirements and for tracking student progress.
• Assign homework with appropriate advance notice to foster responsibility and self-directed learning.
• Attend and participate in scheduled departmental and general faculty meetings.
• Request instructional aids and materials for classroom use.
• Integrate Biblical principles throughout the instructional program.
• Organize field trips and guest lectures as pre-approved by the principal.
• Keep records of textbooks assigned to students.
• Maintain classroom and campus discipline to support a respectful environment.
• Maintain open communication with students' parents and supervise student activities as assigned.
• Be informed of educational trends and adapt to diverse learning styles to help each student achieve daily success.
• Encourage students to reach their God-given potential and show teamwork in relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
• Participate in extracurricular activities and use technology to support instruction.
• Promote critical thinking through questioning strategies and enforce the Student Handbook.

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in the subject area or an education degree with an emphasis on the subject being taught. Advanced degrees are preferred.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach or have relevant teaching experience.
• Comply with and fulfill all policies in the Staff Policy Manual.
• Affirm passion for the intellectual and moral formation of students and for Christian Education, recognizing teaching at GCS as a Christian ministry and a meaningful use of time and talent to honor the Lord Jesus Christ.

• Demonstrate a consistent walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, and attitude as outlined in the GCS Statement of Faith and Christian Beliefs regarding marriage, gender, and sexuality.
• Be available to be used by the Holy Spirit for spiritual encouragement of students or fellow teachers.
• Share the Christian faith with students.
• Read and study the Bible on a personal basis throughout the year.
• Be on time for and attend faculty devotions and chapels as scheduled.
• Be faithfully involved in a local church.
