Human Resources Manager

Own and manage the full HR function for two Connecticut businesses in an onsite, Hartford-area travel role.

• Lead payroll administration for both businesses using Toast Payroll and Paychex
  ; troubleshoot timecard and punch issues
• Track PTO and employee status changes; maintain accurate personnel records and HRIS data
• Support wage-and-hour compliance
  , correct employee classification, and required CT and federal notices and training
• Maintain employee policies and handbooks; periodically audit HR files and HR processes
• Own the recruiting lifecycle: job postings, screening, interviews, reference and background checks, and offers
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including I-9 compliance
  , background checks, payroll setup, and new-hire orientation
• Manage promotions, transfers, and terminations across HR and payroll systems
• Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, managers, and ownership; coach managers on performance and conduct matters
• Lead workplace investigations with thorough documentation for coaching and corrective action
• Administer health, dental, vision
  , and 401(k) benefits, including annual open enrollment
• Manage FMLA and other leave programs, plus workers' compensation and unemployment claims
• Visit Grassroots and Meineke locations across the Hartford area for onboarding, employee matters, and ongoing team connection

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience (or equivalent) with readiness to manage a full HR function
• Strong hands-on experience in payroll

  , employee relations
  , and benefits administration
• Working knowledge of employment compliance and HR best practices; multi-site experience is a plus
• Sound judgment, discretion, and strong communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Toast Payroll and/or Paychex experience helpful, not required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required
• SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP / PHR / SPHR a plus

• $75,000-$95,000 per year
