The State of Connecticut Military Department (CTMD) is accepting applications for a full‑time Qualified Craft Worker (Electrical) position located at Bradley Air National Guard Base, 161 Rainbow Road, East Granby, CT 06026.

- Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
- In‑state travel may be required
- Incumbents may be required to possess and retain specific education/experience to meet EPA 608 certification requirements
- Support the Connecticut National Guard by enabling readiness for federal or state requirements
- Train, resource, and coordinate state emergency response assets
- Plan for and protect citizens and property during times of war, terrorism, invasion, rebellion, riot, or disaster
The 103rd Airlift Wing, the "Flying Yankees," focuses on air mobility, delivering global air transportation of equipment and supplies during war and in peacetime training. The wing operates C‑130 Hercules aircraft to provide safe, reliable transportation of military personnel and equipment worldwide.

- For current state employees, salary calculations may differ across state branches.
- Perform highly skilled tasks in accordance with standard electrical trade practices and codes.
- Lay out and install electrical conduit for power and lighting.
- Repair electrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels, traffic lights, lights, power circuits, ventilating fans, electronic counting and traffic control devices, intercommunication systems, and generators.
- Install open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures.
- Maintain and repair unit heaters, fans, building maintenance machines, gas pumps, refrigeration units, diesel electric generators, movable bridges, fire alarm systems, etc.
- Repair relays and switches; rewire motors; bend pipes; install, repair, and maintain oil burners.
- Perform safety testing of electrical equipment and maintain required records.
- Perform pole work; estimate time, personnel, and materials for assigned tasks; keep necessary records.
- Diagnose failures, perform drilling and patching for installations; assist in high‑voltage work; perform duties in related trade areas as required.
- Liaise with other operating units and outside contacts; operate heavy equipment; respond to fire or crash emergency situations at state‑owned airports.
- Considerable knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, and electrical trade practices.
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare estimates, keep shop records, and utilize computer software.
- Four (4) years of experience in tasks within the electrical trade.
- Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing skilled electrical trades.
- For state employees, this experience is interpreted at the level of a Skilled Maintainer or Transportation Maintainer 2.
- Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma certifying completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may substitute for two (2) years of the General Experience.
