Veterinary Assistant – Primary Care
Location:
Pieper Veterinary (Marlborough and East Haddam, CT)
Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $17.00/hr
The role is full‑time, located at our Marlborough and East Haddam, CT locations.

We strongly believe that veterinary medicine is a team sport. The ideal candidate is comfortable with handling/restraint, basic surgery prep, and assisting Veterinary Technicians in a clinical setting. Experience with Ezy Vet and Smartflow is a plus but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
ScheduleTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday – 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. Rotating Saturday is required.
Compensation$17.25 an hour.

- Prior experience working in a veterinary setting.
- Experience handling animals and performing basic animal care tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and remain organized in a fast‑paced environment.
- Compassion and patience when handling animals.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and medical terminology.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
- Collaborative with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff.
- Willingness to take direction and adapt to new tasks and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Punctuality and reliability, with a commitment to maintaining a high standard of care.
- Positive attitude, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to client care.
- Willingness to continue learning and stay updated on veterinary practices.
- Must be 18 years or older.
