Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Team Lead – QN Project Engineering who will lead a dedicated team managing Quality Notification (QN) projects for fan blade/airfoil parts. This hands‑on leadership role combines technical depth in jet‑engine systems with proven project execution and process‑improvement skills. You will act as both engineer and mentor, guiding your team, liaising with clients/engine OEMs, and delivering outcomes that matter.
This position is 100% on‑site in East Hartford, CT.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project engineers; cultivate a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
- Plan, execute, and drive completion of QN‑related engineering projects (including root‑cause investigations, dispositions, and corrective actions).
- Identify workflow bottlenecks, define process‑improvement opportunities (lean/continuous improvement), and implement effective solutions.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources to ensure on‑time, within‑budget delivery.
- Serve as the subject‑matter expert in jet‑engine systems (fan blade/airfoil hardware) for the team and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain) and external clients/OEMs.
- Prepare and deliver project status updates, technical reports, and documentation for senior management and clients.
- Proactively identify and manage project risks, developing and executing contingency plans.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and compliance across all activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team‑lead capacity.
- Strong understanding of jet‑engine systems (preferably fan blade/airfoil hardware), including design, manufacture, inspection, and maintenance.
- Hands‑on experience with Quality Notifications (QNs), non‑conformances, corrective actions, and root‑cause investigations in an aerospace environment.
- Demonstrated success in driving process‑improvement initiatives (lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement).
- Strong command of project‑management principles and methodologies: planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Excellent leadership skills, interpersonal communication, and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization, with shifting priorities and high accountability.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; detail‑oriented with the ability to maintain big‑picture context.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MBA, or extensive experience in airfoil or fan blades.
- Experience in aero‑engine component manufacturing/repair/overhaul (MRO) environment.
- Familiarity with quality‑system standards, root‑cause methodology (5‑Whys, Fishbone), lean tools or Six Sigma certification.
- Exposure to ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle), PLM tools, or technical data packages.
- Experience as a Quality Review Engineer is a plus.
