About the Role
This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and control of the East Hartford site organization’s Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and procedures to safeguard employees and the environment. The role also enables and ensures compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements at a state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility.

- Recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazardous workplace conditions.
- Taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees and influence safe behaviors.
- Investigating, analyzing and interpreting data from injuries and near‑misses, and ensuring corrective actions are completed on time.
- Developing and implementing sustainability practices and programs related to waste, water, and greenhouse gases in alignment with our long‑term goals.
- Acts as a partner in EH&S by formulating and administering EH&S plans and procedures including EH&S program management.
- May perform tasks associated with EH&S compliance.
- Coordinates with business partners for EH&S concerns regarding facilities and employee practices. Will have responsibility for medical at the site.
- Organizes and maintains EH&S policies to achieve and maintain compliance with regulations.
- Manages relationships across other specialized departments to achieve and maintain compliance with EH&S regulations and RTX requirements.
- Manages a team of experienced EH&S professionals.
- Owns the execution of the long‑term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and the operational direction, typically for a business of modest size and scope.
- Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short‑to‑medium‑term focus (e.g., less than 1 year to 1‑2 years).
- Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
- Implements initiatives that drive continuous improvements and achieve and maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
- Conducts in‑depth analysis of the site for environmental opportunities to maintain environmental compliance and manage all environmental permits and reporting criteria.
- Leads audits of the EH&S management system across a multi‑tenant campus.
- Leads the communication of global EH&S initiatives and comprehensive performance to EH&S professionals and upper‑level management at the site.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years’ relative EH&S experience required, or advanced degree with 10+ years’ relative EH&S experience required.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of factory equipment, manufacturing, field safety and EH&S management systems.
- Continuous Improvement experience (e.g., CORE, ACE, Six Sigma, LEAN) strongly desired.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated knowledge in EH&S regulatory and management systems, including compliance with all local/state/federal regulations regarding air, storm water, wastewater, and hazardous waste.
- Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH, P.E. or CHMM, strongly preferred.
Salary range for this role is 157,200 USD – 298,800 USD. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits depend on the business unit and collective‑bargaining status. Hired applicants may also be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs, depending on the level and whether the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.
This U.S.
