Overview
Residential cleaning & direct care staff will provide cleaning and direct care services to program participants that live in CHD’s Community Transitional Living Program (CTLP). CTLP is a community-based transitional independent living environment for up to 19 eligible adults with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses that will benefit from temporary residential support.
The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking dependable Residential Cleaning and Direct Care Staff in the town of Hartford, CT. The primary focus of this role is cleaning of program participants' apartments, but will encompass other direct care responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work with members of our community who have mental health diagnoses and help them maintain clean and orderly apartments.
Most of your time will be spent cleaning participants’ individual apartments and working alongside them to complete household tasks while encouraging independence and building life skills. Some additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Clean and maintain participants’ individual apartments, including kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, and bedrooms.
- Work together with participants to complete cleaning tasks—modeling routines, offering guidance, and helping them stay organized.
- Clean common areas, stairwells, hallways, and other common spaces.
- Provide direct care support, such as:
- Supporting clients' activities of daily living
- Providing opportunities to optimize their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery
- Develop professional and supportive relationships with clients and provide informal counseling and guidance with a person-centered focus
- Experience in social work and cleaning highly preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable, registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check
- All candidates must complete and pass background record screening process
The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and organized spaces and is comfortable working alongside participants to help clean their individual apartments. A successful team member brings compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills, and can support individuals respectfully while encouraging independence. Reliability, clear communication, and the ability to work both independently and within a team are essential.
ScheduleThis is a part time position offering 20 hours/week with a somewhat flexible schedule. Ideal schedule is 5:00pm-10:00pm, Monday-Thursday, but there is some flexibility depending on availability of candidates.
