Embedded Software Engineer – Randstad Digital Americas
Location:
East Hartford, Connecticut. Job type:
Full‑time, Solution, Hybrid or Remote within the U.S. Salary: $60.00/hr – $65.00/hr work hours: 9am to 5pm.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree.
We are seeking six full‑time equivalents with expertise in Hardware Software Integration Testing (HSIT) for a critical military development project. Candidates must be proficient in software programming languages such as C and/or Python. Candidates must be able to develop test cases and scripts based on provided software requirements, with a strong capability to read code.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute integration test plans and test cases for hardware and software components.
- Analyze software requirements and specifications to design effective test strategies.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to understand system architecture and integration points.
- Perform hands‑on testing of embedded systems, including functional, performance, and regression testing.
- Document and track defects found during testing, ensuring proper resolution and verification.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis for identified issues and suggest improvements.
- Use debugging tools to troubleshoot hardware and software integration issues.
- Maintain and update automated test scripts and testing environments.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on testability and integration considerations.
- Generate test reports and communicate test results to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices related to HSIT.
- Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to work remotely or in a hybrid format within the U.S.
• Meticulous vetting required due to high customer scrutiny and strict deadlines.
- Expertise in Hardware Software Integration Testing (HSIT).
- Experience with DO‑178B/C or MIL‑HDBK‑516C certification standards.
- Proficiency in C and/or Python programming.
- Ability to develop test cases and scripts from software requirements.
- Skill in reading and understanding code.
- Experience with embedded systems debugging tools (e.g., JTAG emulators, logic analyzers).
- Familiarity with configuration management tools.
- Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in testing (desired).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for testing environments (desired).
- Knowledge of real‑time operating systems (RTOS) (desired).
- Understanding of safety‑critical systems and related standards (e.g., ISO 26262, DO‑178C) (desired).
- Experience with performance testing and load testing tools (desired).
- Familiarity with user experience (UX) principles and accessibility standards (desired).
