This position serves as the Operations Manager for Operations Section within the Trust Accounting & Operations Bureau, Operations Division. The position is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the daily operations of the section to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant settlement, accounting, cash management, and operational support of the multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios for State of Michigan’s Retirement System Fund, the State Treasurer’s Common Cash Fund, and various agency and trust funds.
The position provides leadership to Operations section staff; oversees complex investment accounting operations and enterprise investment systems; ensures the integrity of financial data, internal controls, and regulatory compliance; and leads continuous improvement of business processes, system interfaces, and operational efficiencies. The position collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, manage operational risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and accounting standards while supporting the Bureau’s operational and strategic objectives.

EducationPossession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
Note:
A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying 'professional experience' is taken into consideration post bachelor's degree.
Four years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant or an Auditor, including two years equivalent to an Accountant P11 or Auditor P11, or one year equivalent to an Accountant 12 or Auditor 12.
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience.
OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certification may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience.

For our purposes, 'official college transcripts' must contain the applicant's name, college/university name and address, the degree conferred, and date granted, coursework completed (especially if no degree granted), the Registrar's signature and/or seal, and MUST be recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). A scanned or electronic copy is acceptable, as long as it contains the elements listed above.
